BELGRADE SIGHTSEEING TOURS PROGRAM

SIERRA INTERNATIONAL has a program of specially tailored sightseeing tours for international visitors who can get a brief introduction of Belgrade between their business meetings, and the fortunate ones who have more time to explore the city and it's surrounding areas.

TOUR 1         BELGRADE CITY
( 3 hours ) Beginning with a walk through Kalemegdan, a beautiful park and fortress, where Belgrade was founded centuries ago with features like monuments and historical sites, like the monument "The Victor." The fortress, which was built several times through the ages by various empires which ruled Belgrade, overlooks the confluence of Danube and Sava rivers is the highlight of the tour. The tour continues to the heart of Belgrade with The House of Parliament, The Ballet and Opera House, The national Museum, The Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, The Princess Ljubica Museum and the new and imposing St. Sava Temple.

     

TOUR 2       BELGRADE BY BOAT
( 3 hours ) Cruise along Danube and Sava rivers along New Belgrade, Zemun and The Belgrade Fortress, inhale the fresh air and absorb the lovely scenery of The War Island, a nature preserve for birds practically in the city itself. Cruise by a popular recreation spot Ada Ciganlija, where the local population spends their weekends swimming and enjoying the lush greenery of the island.

                          

TOUR 3        BELGRADE MUSEUMS
( 4 hours ) The visit to Ethnographic Museum introduces you to village life in Serbia with a rich
 collection of national costumes, house interiors, tools etc. The Fresco Gallery offers copies of the most beautiful frescoes and sculpture decorations in the famous Serbian Medieval Monasteries, while the visit to the early 19th. century Court of Princess Ljubica, built in Serbian style, presents a nice collection of furniture, paintings and china.

                           

TOUR 4          BELGRADE BY NIGHT
( 4 hours ) An evening tour through the center of  the city, a visit to Skadarlija, a romantic cobble as The Bohemian Quarter of Belgrade. Dinner in one of the many attractive restaurants like "Two Deer," "The Golden Jar" or "Three Hats." Excellent national food, drinks and musicians playing old urban folk songs, will make a memorable evening in Belgrade.
    
 

EXCURSIONS FROM BELGRADE

TOUR 5       TOPOLA / OPLENAC, THE HEART OF SERBIA
( Whole Day Tour ) An hour's drive through the picturesque Central Serbia, the vineyard and orchard region Sumadija. Visit the beautiful white marble five domed Church of St. George, the Mausoleum of Karadjordjevic Dynasty, situated at the peak of Mt. Oplenac, a wooded hill above a small town Topola, where copies of the most beautiful frescoes from medieval Serbian monasteries done in a unique mosaic technique, can be seen. Visit the home of Karadjordje the first Serbian leader of the uprising against the Turks. Lunch at the splendid restaurant"Alexandar," in Arandjelovac.
                                   


TOUR 6      MONASTERIES MANASIJA & RAVANICA
( Whole Day Tour ) A two hour drive from Belgrade through the picturesque Morava River Vallley, visit to The Manasija Monastery, one of the best the 15th. century), with it's mighty 11 tower fortification, 15th. century architecture and fine frescoes. Lunch at a local restaurant famous for trout and other local specialties. After lunch, we continue to the monastery of Ravanica, built in the 14th. century and decorated with extraordinary frescoes.

                          


TOUR 7    NOVI SAD -FRUSKA GORA MONASTERIES - GEMS OF VOJVODINA
( Whole Day Tour ) About an hour's drive through the fertile region of Panonian lowlands known as Vojvodina, we reach the monasteries of Hopovo and Krusedol, two of seventeen medieval monasteries in the region, showing the harmony of Byzantine and Baroque elements in architecture, precious frescoes and icons. We continue to Sremski Karlovci, a picturesque town on the hillside of Fruska Gora. The town is the former seat of The Serbian Orthodox Church and a cultural center for Serbian people in the 18th. century. Visit to the Cathedral and the town center. A short drive brings us to Novi Sad, a lovely city on Danube. After visiting the sites, The Petrovaradin Fortress, The Orthodox Church and the old town center we will stop for lunch at one of the lovely traditional restaurants of Novi Sad. Some free leisure time in Novi Sad before returning to Belgrade in the evening.
